FAQ
What is MFA?
MFA is a security feature that helps protect your Lavalla Catholic College account through a second identity verification factor in addition to your email address and password. Using MFA helps to secure your account by adding an additional verification step that relies on possession of a trusted device, such as your smartphone, and this makes it much more difficult for a cyber-criminal to compromise an account.
Who needs to set up MFA?
All staff (not students) will need to set up MFA. If you were part of the initial trial of MFA (select staff) then you do not need to repeat this process.
How do I set up MFA?
Please refer to the setup instructions above.
Which MFA verification methods does Lavalla Catholic College support?
The instructions above show the method to set up phone (SMS) method however you may use the Microsoft Authenticator if you prefer. To use it simply click Next at step 5 instead of choosing another authenticator method.
Why am I getting the 'More information required' screen when trying to sign in?
If you are presented with a More information required window when signing in, it means you are required to set up MFA on your account. At this point you must set up MFA before you can login. Please follow the prompts or use the setup instructions above.
When will I be prompted to verify my sign-in?
This will vary depending on your location, device, current level of risk etc. however you should not expect to have to do it very often while on-site. You will primarily need to do it when off-site or using a new/non-college device.
