Network drives (and other services such as Synergetic) are not normally accessible unless you are connected to the Lavalla Catholic College onsite network.
It is possible to access these services by establishing a remote connection to the College using the VPN Client (FortiClient).
The steps in this knowledge base article will help you access Lavalla Catholic College network services on your College provided laptop when you are offsite.
Please note: This is an interim solution. Long term it is not expected to be required for the majority of staff, as college files will likely reside in the cloud and be available from anywhere by default.
How to Install and configure the VPN client
Note - FortiClient should already be installed on staff laptops. If so, skip to step 9.
- Go to https://vpn.lavalla.vic.edu.au in your web browser
- Input your username and password, then press the Login button
3. Press the Download FortiClient button, then select Windows
4. Run the installer once downloaded
If you are prompted for a username and password, enter the username as ".\Administrator" (note the full-stop and backslash at the start) and leave the password blank. You may need to click More Choices and "Use a different account" to enter the username.
5. Press the tickbox to accept the licence agreement, then press the Next button
6. Press the Next button
7. Press the Install button
8. Press the Finish button
9. Run the program from the icon on your desktop (or search for FortiClient from the start menu)
10. Tick the acknowledgement tickbox, then press the I accept button
11. Press the Configure VPN link
12. Input the Connection Name “Lavalla”, the Remote Gateway “vpn.lavalla.vic.edu.au”, then press the Save button
13. Input your Username and Password to connect. This same login will appear when opening the FortiClient VPN program from the Start Menu or the icon in the taskbar notification (system tray) area
